Presented with the opportunity to make use of a large functional space in their kitchen during remodelling, our client wished for us to design and create them a breathtaking island unit.
Working closely with the client, and taking into account what was important to them in regards to both family life and entertaining guests, we proposed the combination of a standardised section of island unit which would be utilised as a preparation area as well as kitchen storage combined with a breakfast bar area that would sit at a higher level sat atop a feature wine rack, and afford the family an area to sit and dine together as well as doubling up as an entertainment space.

Taking advantage of the split-level adjoining of the two sections, we incorporated a large diameter centre section into the design that would both allow us to make an amazing feature of sitting two shaped sections of granite above and below each other as well as encasing a hidden motorised lifting gin bar, that could be raised completely out of the worktop by a controller when entertaining guests, then lowered away and masked as a traditional block board chopping board when not in use.
Constructed as a combination of shaker style cabinetry and reeded oak, the classy finishes of the piece are complimented perfectly by the integration of custom controlled backlighting in both the wine rack and gin bar areas.
