Its iconic facade dominating the Shoreditch skyline, Montcalm wanted to reinvent their flagship hotel as ‘Montcalm East’ - what would become an autograph collection hotel focused heavily on capturing the arts and illusions culture synonymous with London’s West End.

Wanting to portray this theme from the outset, we were asked to create four pods in the hotel reception. Featuring curved reeded glass wrapped around a ribbed section, complimented by oak cabinetry integrating the necessary computer equipment, the pods were manufactured around the exact needs of the client.

Sitting to the right, a curved arch walkway leads the way to the ground floor bar area. Taking advantage of the eye-catching contours our team manufactured a section of banquette seating to follow the curvature perfectly, enabling the space to be used as a lobby area for guests waiting to check-in.

Serving hotel guests and patrons alike, the artistic design of the ground floor bar area takes advantage of the glass facade to lure in passers-by. The concave frontage bar complimented by its oak and brass arched back fitting convey the individuality of the venue and alongside the complexly shaped areas of banquette seating and a hanging table private dining area, the venue provides a very unique experience for frequenters. A brass bookshelf unit encases important works giving inspiration to the hotel's design, and is used to display a rotating selection of artworks for all to enjoy.

Aimed specifically for guests of the hotel, we installed another bar in the second-floor area. This time, the design would see a convex frontage, followed through as a feature wall around the kitchen pass area. Taking advantage of the area beside the bar, we manufactured a bespoke section of banquette seating that would incorporate the two support pillars and make maximum use of the space at hand.

Also boasting a private dining area, the second-floor restaurant offers the ‘development booth’ featuring a suspended backlit development table and bronze hanging frame utilised by the venue to display rotating pieces of artwork. Positioned at either entrance to the second-floor restaurant area, guests are met at a greeter station before being seated, the first an oak and brass elliptical unit and the second a combination of bronze reeding and high gloss paintwork, once again artistic design is combined with functionality.
