As part of its catering and hospitality apprenticeship and diploma schemes, Nescot College wanted to transform an area of the college into a professional catering kitchen, giving them the opportunity to properly train students using all the correct equipment.

Taking the area from a shell, plumbing and electrics were installed throughout before boarding out the room in line with fire regulations. The kitchen was then finished with hygienic wall cladding and Altro flooring to meet food hygiene standards, and compliant suspended ceilings were fitted.

Working closely with General Catering Supplies, the stainless catering system and kitchen system were manufactured and installed along with all required mechanical and engineering works, before being handed back to Nescot College.

Proving a successful addition, the kitchen now also serves student-made food directly to the public, with the funds raised going directly back into the college.
