Following the roaring success of their Islington site, Noble Inns decided to open the second Smokehouse in the West London borough of Chiswick. Previously a dreary local pub, a full remodel was necessary to bring the familiar rustic homely feel of the Smokehouse brand to the venue.
The shabby original bar and back fitting were removed and new ones manufactured and installed in keeping with the feel of the restaurant. The upper back fitting was constructed from box section steel, which was finished in a rusted effect and coated in a hygienic sealer. This sat in front of an old screen uncovered during the restoration, which complimented the styling the client was looking to achieve so well that we converted it into a lightbox.
Through to the rear sat a dingy backroom, previously used mainly as a through route to the toilets. The toilet access door was relocated into the main bar area, and the room utilised as a ‘whisky room’. This provided customers a place to relax away from the bustle of the bar and restaurant areas and choose from the large selection of whiskeys on offer. With manufacture and installation of oak wall panelling throughout, and faux ceiling features creating the impression of the underside of an old exposed floor and beams the old-worldly gentleman’s parlour was born.
New Altro flooring was fitted throughout the kitchen and back bar areas, and working closely with SOS Catering Equipment the kitchen was completely refitted to the requirements of the client and their new food offering.
Quirky vanity units and mirrors were built for the restrooms, and full internal and external redecoration and re-polishing of the floors throughout completed the transformation from a failing local pub to a bustling second restaurant for the Smokehouse brand
