Situated in Sloane Square, Chelsea, The Botanist is one of ETM groups most successful sites. Having previously refitted the site for them in 2008, the venue was ready again for a full rip out, and refit, following ten years of constant high traffic trading.
As the existing pewter bar was starting to show its age, they wanted to give it a total overhaul. We manufactured and fitted new oak arched back fitting units, featuring decorative glass backdrops, and floating backlit shelving. The bar front was also cladded in oak veneer, before having a solid brass decorative feature installed.
Above the bar, the client wanted a large feature lighting box. This we achieved by the manufacture and installation of fins projecting out from the upper back fitting, which we finished in a specialist brass coating, in keeping with the bar front feature, with the lighting boxes constructed between each fin.
With the redesign of the restaurant, the client wanted to provide a more definitive separation of the bar and dining areas. The previously large open walkthrough area in the middle of the venue was replaced with lower level acoustically insulated panelling, topped with a four set of acoustic sliding doors. Along the bar side of this provided the perfect opportunity for us to install custom made banquette seating to accommodate for the large volume of visiting customers.
For the dining area of the venue, installation of seating booths, and a more light and elegant colour scheme were used to bring a more relaxed, inviting feel to guests. Oak tables, with inlaid solid brass edging, and bases were manufactured and supplied in keeping with the finishes of the bar throughout both the dining and bar areas. More modern oak waitress points were manufactured, and fitted throughout in keeping with the new theme.
Heading downstairs, both restrooms were fully refurbished, consisting of new vanity units, feature mirrors, new doors and ironmongery, plus full retiling of floors and walls throughout.
Through into The Botanist’s famed kitchen, time and demanding usage had taken its toll. A complete strip out of the kitchen, full fit out with hygienic wall cladding, and altro flooring, before the installation of a full new kitchen system ensured that the kitchen team had the facilities needed to keep customers and critics alike satisfied for another ten years to come.
Full internal and external redecoration, and refinishing of all floors and the staircase provided the finishing touches to the revival of one of the finest food venues in Chelsea.
