The Pig and Butcher occupy a handsome pub built in the mid-1800s when Islington was a village outside London. The area around the pub used to be fields used by farmers to rest and feed their livestock before being sent to Smithfield’s Meat Market for sale.
When Noble Inns took over, they saw the perfect opportunity to create an unconventional dining experience that was complimentary to the history of the site, focusing on the farmhouse feel, and butchering of fresh meat on site.
Manufacture and installation of a rustic scaffold board shelving unit provided the perfect division of the bar and dining areas. Traditionally made farmhouse style tables and bases and banquette seating in keeping with this style all contributed to bringing the authentic feel of the venue right to the diner.
This theme was continued through into the upstairs private dining room, with a large farmhouse banquet table, and various bespoke units and shelving manufactured both in keeping with this and to the exact requirements of the operator to ensure maximum use of the space was utilised.
